I may sound stupid but what I need is that BlackBerry is a company which at present has a very poor customer base and at any time they may go out of OS business too and my question is that whether BlackBerry android os will be discontinued after some 2 or 3 years? Can anyone convince me?

No one knows where BlackBerry will be in three years....

But then how many other Android phones out there will get updates in two or three years - other than Google's own phones, not very many.

It's also not as if the phone will quit working in two years. It may not receive future updates but will still work as a phone providing carriers don't change bands and things which would limit the future proofing of the phone. Based off the price of the dtek50 it's absolutely safe to use for a couple of years and should be more than adequate moving into the future. It's a nice little device that if you can live with the shortcomings will suit you just fine.
I wouldn't worry about BlackBerry 2 or 3 years down the road so much as if this phone suits your needs now and in the foreseeable future.

Not by OP's definition of safe.

No, the phone will stop working the minute BlackBerry pulls the plug

    If I worried about the future, I wouldn't have bought a Q10, Z10, Classic, or two Z30s. I still use the Z10 and Z30 after 3 years.
I've had my Dtek50 a few months. Got it in trade to learn Android, and so far enjoying it. No phone lasts forever. This one is not that expensive, especially used, so there isn't much danger.
