Strange question to ask on a BlackBerry fan site.

Read the review and decide for yourself. I for one think it's a great device.

That is a question that you will have to answer yourself.

Take a look at this review by @James Nieves :

If you don't need a keyboard but like the BlackBerry apps and secure Android DTEK50 is a seriously solid offering. I however am a keyboard guy and want that in my life, so I'm waiting for the KEYone which outpaces the DTEK50 in almost every way. Hopefully the CB review and video above helps you narrow down your choice! Let us know if you have more specific questions we can answer for you

DTEK60 is the premium slab choice.

DTEK50 is the budget (but still able) slab choice.

Priv, fits between the two in terms of performance, but has added weight due to the keyboard.

I've been using the Dtek50 as my daily driver over my PRIV and Dtek60. The Priv is very nice, but I found it to be quite heavy and I stopped using the keyboard. Once the keyboard was slid out, I found it cumbersome to use. The Dtek60 is awesome, but I cracked the screen the very first days I had it. Works perfectly, but I can't stand to look at the crack.

I've found the Dtek50 to be a great device that does everything I need it to do, albeit a little slow (half a second). It's small and lightweight and works flawless. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Highly anticipating the Key1 though. I love me some pkb and miss my Classic and Bold. Can't wait!

Definitely. I would wait for it to go back on sale though.

At the regular price $429 Canadian it is a bit over-priced compared to other midrange Android phones. At the $299 sale price the DTEK50 is competitively priced.

I dun like the back side finishing of DTEK60, so I get a 50 now as my priv seems getting very slow and have some other minor problems

Thanks. Worth dropping the priv for it. Priv is so so heavy in weight. But KEYone is coming.

Bought it 2 weeks ago, bit of learning curve coming from z30 and Classic. Great phone and not envious of those $800 phones that does the same thing. My biggest fear was the battery but been no issue. I bought the BB flip case and amazed at how convenient that phone becomes. I can peak at my notifications by simply double taping the phone from the window, swiping to the right again from window and up to the next notification.
My wife was impressed and bought one as well. I was afraid to hear her frustration as she was using a Classic but she amazingly embraced the switch to android.
So great device that is snappy, light without breaking the bank!!
