Why is a contact list caller an Unknown Caller?

I am using a Curve 9360 running OS 7.1 and on a cheapo plan from Fido (voice and text only). When someone who is in my contact list calls me, the call comes in as being from "Unknown Caller". This does not make sense to me. I do not have Caller ID with my plan; is that the problem or is there a setting I should change? Thanks,

I believe that is correct that if you don't have caller ID it will always show as unknown caller

I can confirm that -- went through the same thing when I added a lo-cost plan and gave my daughter one of my BB's. We had to go back and add caller ID before the incoming caller's name would appear.

YUP. I just got off the line with a Fido person and he confirmed what you two have said. So I got a caller ID add-on for $6 per month and the problem is solved. Earlier today I got a call from a telemarketer, which cannot be tolerated on a cell phone because each call can potentially cost money. Now I have the info and tools to block them out.
