I can average about 400-500 KB/s

It can be as low as 150 KB/s too.

WOW, your net provider is good bro, my net provider which is MTN ...they don't allow 500kb/s....they give us 120kb/s

Was on Vodacom getting 22Kb/s max!.
Ported my number to 8ta now am getting (350 to 586)kb/s. Ofcourse this is only in Big Cities not rural areas!.

Something went wrong with MTN Bis this month although it says bis is activated so opted for cell c to see the difference.

Rica and bis was ready in 45min after purchasing sim.....got 200kps when downloading.

Katlegob, meaning 8ta gives a more higher download speed than all 3 nets, which is Cell C,Vodacom, and MTN???? But how, coz 8ta its still use MTN's satellite for signal...?

As I see, these guys will never give us even a 1MB download speed, South Africa is very stinge on giving internet

I'm on Cell C I get speeds between 200 and 500 Kbps depending on where I am and the time of use.

Cell C unlike Vodacom who don't prioritise on downloads anymore and MTN who cap services after you've downloaded/used up to 100MB, you're free to use the internet as you like with good speeds and all provided the network is good. Haven't tried 8ta though but until Cell C gives me problems I won't try it.

I still don't know how to test this without an independent app. I installed Fancy Speed Test though, and I'm getting 897 kbps down and 452 kbps up.

under settings, if I change the test size to 1mB, I get 1.4 mbps down and 520 kbps up.

I'm using 3rd party internet browser called UC, has a download manager built-in, tells me the kps of whatever downloaded in real time. You see how the kps drops or increases as it downloads depending on your connection.

MTN and Vodacom speeds sucks!!! both cap users on downloads, so that BBM, browsing and email goes faster, i personally feel the reason behind the networks capping the downloads is due to our people using 8520 and other phone or phones being the broken and they complain to the networks for silly reason, up to know people are still complaining so i hope you see my point.
