Any new features? Noticeable bugs? How's the battery life?
- 06-29-2012, 08:30 PM #4
Its the same as the one for Bold 9900. Application Resource Monitor (ARM) is in this version as well. IT policy is enabled. There's a media server option under "network and connections" options. I was on 336 previously and don't remember seeing it on 9360 before. But i might be wrong, cause i jump around different BB quite often.
Bugs wise, nothing serious. i encountered something peculiar in application switcher. The contacts app was shown as running when i'm sure i closed it earlier. When i clicked on it, it doesn't do anything and it just freezes there. Had to use the "end call" button to exit. I opened the contacts app again, and then closed it again. Then it went away. Will keep a lookout.
I hope you're joking asking about battery life, the OS was just released earlier today. Its far to early to tell, and anyway, it will definitely vary from person to person.
Anyway, the same with the .523 for 9900, I can't find device analyser. Perhaps, it has been simply replaced by ARM. Though personally i don't see much use for it, since i always make sure i close my apps. I'm still doubtful about it, but I will keep it on to see how it goes.Last edited by Alex_Hong; 06-29-2012 at 08:35 PM.

go to 'options' menu, hold ALT and type 'BBDA'that will enable it, you won't be able to launch it if you search from the homescreen, what I did was set rule in quicklaunch for net_rim_bb_device_analyzer.cod to launch it

Well from what I can see, this is pretty similar to the 9900 build of this OS. We have got the new BlackBerry Messenger 6.2.0.50, Parental controls, Application Resource Monitor and a couple of other updated core apps.

After a couple of hours of this .523 instalation my 9360 seems to be loosing memory, initially memory was at 216.5mb then for no reason it goes down to 188.6mb. the reason i got 216.5mb is that i removed alot of cods before instalation of this .523 and did not install any apps after that but still the memory goes down to 188.6mb my previous .391 had no issue.

So far battery life seems OK.
Still hasn't fixed the bug where some applications (such as camera) cannot get a location fix.Blackberry 10 > Windows Phone 7/8 > Blackberry 7 > iOS > Android > Symbian > WebOS > Meego - 07-05-2012, 03:24 AM #16
I installed it, once you slim it down by getting rid of unused languages and applications, it seems fine, almost better, I can't comment on battery yet of course, I turned off the application manager, as I close applications that are running in the background i'm not using anyway

Battery seems OK, same as .336 I think. One improvement I have noticed is the level of reception I get. I would usually get EDGE most of the day from my spot in the office, but since .523 has been in I'm getting 3G.
So far so good.(9000 > 9800 > 9360 > 9900 > Z10 + PlayBook) - 07-05-2012, 09:45 AM #20
Love this update!
Yes battery life is awesome compared to previous versions, location for the camera app is very fast, fast boot for me (about 25-30 seconds), OS is more responsiveness and I noticed that the video scrolling bug wich make my phone reboot is fixed. Very nice update! I used Shrink-A-OS to remove some apps, languages, fonts...etc to get more space
. I recommend it!

Unable to Upgrade
I seem to be having the same issue others have had on other releases (Official: OS 7.1.0.336 for the Curve 9360 from Telenor Norway).
I have removed all BB software via control panel and deleted the RIM folder in Common Files, rebooted Win7, installed DM7, installed the OS files (tried both Vodaphone Australia & Fiji and Smartone HK), ran BBH Tool and launched loader. My phone resets when loader gets to Connecting to boot ROM. It continues to reset every time the phone comes up while loader is waiting. And during this time, Windows does not recognize the USB device. As soon as loader gives up and spews the error, my phone stops resetting on reboot and Windows recognizes the device.
I have tried different USB cables on every USB port. There are no vendor.xml files in my Loader folder or in my profile directory.
I find it odd that the device isn't recognized as a USB device ONLY when loader is trying to connect to the boot rom. Any ideas on what to try next?
