My Curve is completely charged. In about an hour, the battery "appears" dead and is flashing red/dead battery.

When I do a restart on the phone (alt/shift/delete) it fixes the problem and the battery appears to be normal charge again.

This happens again 2-3 times per day. I feel like I am living the movie Groundhog day with this phone.

Do I need a new battery?

I have even updated the operating system over the weekend and this has not fixed it either.

Any help would be appreciated...I have not even owned this phone for a year.

Take your battery our...lie it on a flat surfce...if it is able to spin then you need a new battery.

If not, try wiping your phone clean (do a backup before of course)

My wifes curve was doing a similar thing and when I bought a new battery and compared them, I quickly realized that the old one was swelled up and almost rounded instead of being flat. No problems since replacing battery and it's been about 6 or 7 months.

I tried the spin thing, the battery would not spin, stays flat and does not look bubbled. Very flat.

This is EXACTLY what was happening on my phone. It is definitely the battery. Be careful not to buy a knock off replacement. I went through CrackBerry for mine.

So I have replaced the battery with the exact same type battery....and woke up this morning....SAME PROBLEM. Not fixed.

I need help please, any other ideas???

How about the metal connectors for the battery ? Perhaps during use with temperature they lose contact ... perhaps a metal connector cleaner spray or actually replacing them.

I will try the connectors tonight. As it is a new phone I don't like messing with it but will try. I am stumped!

If it is a new phone and you have warranty, i would take it to the repair shop or to be replaced.
