Mobile Hotspot help
Hi guys,
I already installed OS 7.1 by Mobilicity to my Curve 9360 (Globe Telecom - Philippines). The problem is I need to enter a username and password provided by network provider. See attached picture. - 04-27-2012, 12:10 AM

wow did it work?
seriously?
i'm planning to upgrade it to 7.1 even if globe haven't released the official firmware.
by the way, brightpoint (philippines) released the os 7.1 a few days ago. Globe only released a 7.1 firmware for the BlackBerry 9900 only.
I've been having battery issues with my BlackBerry 9380 phone even if I just don't use the entire phone, at around 8-10 hours the phone will be in low battery mode.
Here is the info about Brightstar's release Blackberry Curve 9380 version 7.1.0.336 (7.1.0.1133) officially released today by Brightstar.

Mobile Hotspot
Yes it worked, I was able to connect my brother myphone.
I did upgraded it to 7.1 and I downloaded it from here crackberry, I think mobilicity, and within the day my battery drained fast due to downloading and upgrading and setting up my phone again due to the os wipe. but after 2-3 days my phone is stable, bbm, fb, twitter, text, email, and browsing, i got through 16 hrs with 20% remaining.
2g, 70% backlight, gmail, bible, operam mini running in background.
also I charge usually on the computer and it goes further than on an outlet.
Not sure why but maybe the power is distributed well than on an outlet.
i suggest you upgrade man, but not sure for 9380. pretty sure its the same issue for the battery, do you think they released the same battery but higher power? - 05-01-2012, 06:23 PM #7
I just updated it as of now. A while ago I updated it via Desktop Manager. It's okay but it preserved my apps. I thought it's gonna be a clean install.
I tried the mobile hotspot, it didn't work. I used my BlackBerry ID and "globe" for the username and password, not of them worked. I have a TCP/IP thing on my phone which is "http.globe.com.ph" darn..
Then out of curiosity, I installed the latest leak OS, 7.1.402 and WOW! It's darn faster and a lot stable. Unfortunately the mobile hotspot is still not working.
Since I'm happy with the OS 7.1.402 I tried installing the latest Hybrid OS that I could find, and it's the Hybrid 7.1 Babyluv Barracuda OS, it's based from 7.1.402 ... WOW. It's a lot faster and I have more than 200 MB of application storage. It's really the best OS ever
It has lots of bundled and useful applications
You'll love it. An app to control the LED, yes with different LED colors, an app which shows more info about the phone, the battery and to soft reset the device, 2 nice file managers, an awesome modified and hybrid BBM, built in foursquare, facebook, twitter, an app that silently captures pictures, screen capture stuff and the latest from RIM a Media Server. Before I forget, it's also lot better to capture videos and pictures.
Try it out for yourself.
However, the mobile hotspot thing is still not working. Darn globe.

Mobile hotspot
Ok here's what I did:
Yesterday I renewed my BBMAX subscription, then it told me it needs activation for a mobile hotspot data plan. I emailed globe about it, <talk@globetel.com.ph> then I told them it's asking for activation plan. include your phone number and your location.
Wait for a reply with a case number and after that you wait for a text message on your phone saying they have activated your blackberry services, make sure you're subscribed to BBMAX, then do a battery pull.
They actually adviced me to use Blackberry ID and password but I tried using just my name both on username and password and it still worked..
Hope this one will work out on you guys.

Now, my Mobile Hotspot is working!

It works. All you need to do is to call globe or have a chat with them. It's just a request for the mobile hotspot data plan activation.
Mine's working although it's really slow even if the signal is full.
Actually you can use any username and password and even if the APN settings are like, blank, the mobile hotspot still works like a charm.
