lost icon

I was deleting some apps yesterday and don't know how but I lost the text icon or panel I can still send and get text messages but I don't get any alerts when I get them just the notification.
How can I get the icon back.

I got it back!!!!! I read somewhere on this form to pull the battery and replace it so I did and to my surprise the icon is back and the alerts are working again

My brother had the same problem on his device , but with a lot of icons , he tried Battery pulls but they didn't work , so I reloaded his os to solve the problem
