antenna replacement
My curve 9360 hasn't good reception since a month. I'm sure that it has something to do with my blackberry since on the train route I take every week I can't get signal when I'm out the stations. Something which didn't happened before since I could surf on edge while I was on the train the whole train route. (I tried my SIM in another phone once and it had reception). Luckily for me on all location I go I mostly have a mast nearby but I'm looking for a definitive solution. It probably happened because I dropped my blackberry to much (My blackberry is my slave and not the way around).
The problem is with GSM, 2G AND 3G networks Wifi and Bluetooth works just fine.
Anyone have any experience replacing a curve 9360 antenna? I already searched the forums and found out that the antenna is located at the bottom of my phone.
Do I just need to replace the housing of my blackberry? Will this part be the solution for my needs of do I need to search for an other part.
Can it be that the aluminum casing also acts like an antenna?
When I replaced my antenna you can be sure that I will post my experiences. - 08-02-2012, 07:58 AM #2
In most phones the cellular antenna is simply a printed circuit, on either the main board or a smaller flexible module. It is extremely unlikely you would damage it by dropping, unless the impact was enough to cause other damage.
If you have good signal in any areas it suggests the phone is working correctly and is undamaged. A lost or weak signal while travelling out of towns is more likely to be the result of network changes, or possibly due to signal blocking - some of our UK rail carriages have tinted glass with metallic doping which kills almost any phone signal as soon as the train leaves the town area.

Thanks for your reply but I really think that there is something wrong with the antenna reception on my phone. Now I'm sitting less than 200 (meter/yards) from a mast from my operator and sometimes I have no service. It changes however when i'm holding my BB towars the mast.
Since you wonder how hard I let my phone drop. There are also a few other things with shows the heavy use of my phone. The plastic part between my keyboard is broken around the alt key and the alluminium ring around the phone has a few deep scratches.
