I need a new phone hence would like to make it unusable so that I can convince my parents about it. I have 9220 which was used by my elder brother. May I know the trick by which I can make it unusable or unbootable. The current OS running on system is 7

Ahh..already thought of physical damage!! But dont wanna do that. Can we somehow screw something with OS or system files or hack it so that it would be unusable?

Stop at step 12.

Make sure you back up everything that's on the phone, and take the microSD card out (if it has anything on it.)

Curious to know will that wiper wipe out entire OS? Or can that be recovered? Can we not delete critial system file or something by mounting on Linux or windows desktop as a drive? just like we do for windows where we delete the few .dlls and whewww..system is crashed.

This will wipe everything, including the OS. So, going with your analogy, this is the equivalent of wiping the hard drive completely. Unusable until you install an OS.

I've never heard of a 7.1 exception. Are you running a 64-bit OS, and if so, did you download the right file and follow the x64 instructions?

offtopic: so you dont only wanna convince your parents to get you a new phone, you wanna be able to recover your phone so you can sell it for pocket money(hence no physical damage)? hahaha
