First off I really appreciate all the designs made available to us. I am currently starting to make themes and have found a few sites that have icons I can use.

Do any of you know any good sites that I can use icons off of? I have no intention of copying anyones theme ideas. I would just like to start making my own. I realize how much work goes into making themes. (not easy)

There are a few good sites out there for icons, but I would also suggest taking a read through here before using them, if you intend to make a profit from them.
