Default Will a UK released 8900 work in AU?

Hi CB,

I lost my Curve 8310 a few months ago and *really* need another BB!

Does anyone know if a UK released 8900 will work on AU networks (or even US released)? There hasn't been any release dates for AU but the phone's been released to US and UK already. I also have no doubt the 8900 - when it's finally released - will be way overpriced!
Why buy locally when I can get one from the UK for AU$600 - AU$700?
Does anyone here from AU have an overseas 8900 working on Telstra/Optus/Vodafone?

Any information would be appreciated.

why dont you just get the AU version.

as i said in the 8900 Voda forum, its coming to optus and vodafone this week-ish.

in the future these two carriers are going to have VERY similar bb lineups if my sources are correct. (hint hint.. 9520)

Interesting. Googling didn't give me any dates for an Australian release, but if it's coming out shortly then I may wait. Although, the RRP will probably still be way over the top which may still warrant an o/s purchase.

If that's the case then my question still stands - does anyone know if a UK or US released BB 8900 will work on AU networks?? I'm surprised no one has answered...

Thanks Jamie. Looks like the phone would work in AU as the 8320 has similar specs.

Checking eBay.co.uk and eBay.com.au this morning - 8900 is UK would cost AU$745, 8900 is AU would cost $938. I do wonder if the prices will even out when the 8900 is officially released here (dates would nice!).
