I had this problem too. You need to call your service provider and have them re-provision your device.

    Wrongo.

If it's AT&T have to give them the IMEI of a Bold, or just convince the representative that you know what you're doing, and ask them to add the BBVV feature to your line, and that you know this will erase your voice mailbox, and it will have to be set up again.

I'll see if I can get AT&T to change mine without doing the IMEI shuffle. Maybe. Results to follow, if I bother to go through with it.

    Umm.. no. Not wrong.

He's not getting his notifications. They need to re-provision the device. Also, since he's on T-Mobile, not AT&T, he doesn't need to do any IMEI funny-business to get VVM. They allow them to have it.

OP, call T-Mobile and explain the situation. CS will help you set up VVM if you want it, and send the provisioning to your device so you will receive your notifications again.

Mister Xiado, in the future, please refrain from telling someone they're wrong until you know what you're talking about. You may simply offer your opinion, but you don't need to tell someone they're 'wrongo' to do it.

Update: Business Care is as dumb as ever. I'll go to a store. They play fast and loose all the time.

Which the average user is utterly incapable of doing, which has resulted in an absurd number of exchanges and device wipes.

Standard re-provisioning will only correct minor issues, but if the device is not properly interpreting the new MWI messages, reloading of the app itself may be required.

Agreed, but provisioning is the place to start. And considering I had the exact same issue after upgrading the OS, and re-provisioning the device corrected the MWI issue, then I think there's a good chance it'll work. And he also needs to be sure that the SOC code or whatever T-Mobile uses for VVM is on the account, and that his IMEI is correct. Like I said, tech support should be able to handle his issues. I don't think there's anything he can do on his end without calling them, although it couldn't hurt to wipe and re-install the OS to rule out a bad install.

So I just called CS, and the lady was not very helpful, she basically told me to try a battery pull and it should be all set. She also said vvm isnt available on 8900 which i knew. So i figure maybe i should just try to reinstall the OS, but i was wondering if the process is the same as upgrading? just open app loader, and install the os?

Call back and get someone in the BlackBerry support department. A regular CS person probably wouldn't be able to help you.

As far as the OS is concerned, there are detailed instructions on wiping and re-installing. Just search.

thanks for the help, i tried calling CS again last night and spent about 45 min on the phone with the bb support who transferred me to the "higher ups". the higher up CS told me that the 8900 cant have VVM and removed it from my account. so then i asked them to at least fix my regular voicemail and after 3 battery pulls and about 30 min they still hadnt fixed the problem so i told them id have to call back some other time. i think im just going to try a wipe/reinstall and wait for an invite for google voice if that does not work.
