Default Upgrading to 5.0?

I was wondering if it is worth upgrading my BB 8900 to 5.0. From 4.6 os? I discoved I have a UK tmobile phone that I puchased from Amazon nearly 2 years ago. I can't upgrade from my tmobile site because this is an unsupported phone. So, is it worth it to download the new 5.0 software from the tmobile site and use BBSAK to upgrade or is 4.6 sufficient? Any advice would be great! Joe

Latest Official OS: 8900 5.0.0.1067

You don't need to install the OS from the carrier that the device is branded to.
As long as it's an OS that was released for your specific device model, you're good to go as long as you DELETE the vendor.xml file.
Oh, I forgot to add, yes. I think it's worth it to upgrade to OS5.

I hope my reply makes sense. LOL.

Thanks for the advice! I have never used BBSAK - do you recommend it? Will it well on Windows 7?

BBSAK does work on Windows 7. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and use BBSAK.

It is not necessary to use BBSAK when upgrading the OS, though.

Here is a nice guide for upgrading the OS. It works for OS 5 also.

Do the upgrade. Os5 worked great on my 8900.

Hey joey,
I just upgraded the same fone from the same old version. Yes I was well worth it. U must understand that this is an upgrade not just an update. So u will c many improvments. They've improved the media player, the messesges app and many other apps. Just be careful cause some of your older apps my not work with this nu op sys. You'll just have to update your old apps. The upgrade is well worth it. I think u will be just as delighted as I am. Make sure u do one last backup before u upgrade. That will u will b able to downgrade if u r not satisfied withthe nu op. Good luck, FrankOMundO
