Default Updating OS on BB 8900...???

OK, so I'm ready to try updating my OS. Thing is, since I am using an unlocked T-Mobile 8900 on the AT&T network, what is the best course of action for this. AT&T only has the 4.6.xxx OS on their site, but i keep hearing all these good things about the 5.0. Could I essentially use the link found in the thread at the top of the forum to do this, or what? I'd really like to avoid ending up with a "Brick Berry"......

You can upgrade or downgrade to any OS that is built for the 8900... just follow the directions on any of the threads... first, backup your device, then delete the Vendor.xml file and use the Loader.exe is the same folder as the Vendor.xml file, then follow the directions.

I was wondering about the same thing, as I wanted to try the 5.0 OS myself. I am currently running the 4.6 that T-Mobile offers and did not want to brick my phone. Let me know if this works for you before I do it .

I've done so many OS upgrades, as well as downgrading my OS... just read all you can... the Upgrade/Downgrade link in my signature... as well as the Blackberry 101 lesson on the subject and you'll be just fine.

Its pretty cool, I did it on my tmo 8900 and it went well. One thing of note is that my internet browser disappeared when I did the update with my sim installed. Then I removed my sim did a fresh jl-cmdr wipe and re installed 5.0. When I put my sim in I was back to fully functional. So I might suggest removing your sim before doing the update. Good luck.
