unknown icon on my screen

an unusual icon has appeared on my screen, anyone know how to get rid of it or what it is?! its a blue square with white dots in it and a red start in top corner of the blue square. it has a number one beside it. never seen this before, its not a facebook notification from what i can ascertain

thank you it looks like the blackberry messenger icon but i dont use blackberry messenger!? my son also has that worl like icon on thats a push message thing, do you know how to get rid of them?

Open the message folder > menu > view folders. You can find all of your messages and notifications there.
