Unable to upgrade to OS 5xxxx

I have a 8900 with Vodafone UK which is currently on v4.6.1.310 (Platform 4.2.0.127).
Unfortunately I am not a BB expert so I dont understand fully how these OS upgrades work.

I have installed the DM software on my PC but it states there is no new software available.

I have downloaded various versions of OS 5 from the support pages of Vodafone's website and installed the .exe file but when I connected the BB it still keeps saying there is no update.

Any ideas?

try this way..
connect your phone first on PC
open this link BlackBerry - Device Software v5.0 - Download BlackBerry Device Software Today and don't use google chrome use internet explorer.

and you can see the UPDATE TODAY click on it
and open mycomputer>>program files>>Common files>>Research In Motion>>AppLoader>>Loader.exe

then next next until the loader sync your BB and back to the browser and click the UPDATE BOTTON..
