Default Triangular Symbol

All of a sudden there is a triangle shaped symbol beside AT&T on my screen. What is it? Been using the 8900 for months and haven't ever seen it. Like I said, it randomly popped up out of nowhere.

That's what I suspected. Strange. I'm sitting in my living room and have never been roaming here before. Wonder why its roaming now?

if its a really small triangle, its a wifi related symbol.

Yup. That's the one. It goes away if I turn WiFi off. Still think its really strange that it just randomly came on. I thought it was some kind of something on the outside of the screen at first. I kept trying to wipe it off...

You're probably roaming on the T-Mobile network. AT&T's new network since they sold their share in the original network that they shared with T-Mobile still needs a lot of work.

I thought we determined it had something to do with WiFi per the above post and the fact that it goes away if I turn WiFi off?

I guess I don't really care as long as I don't have any extra charges on my bill. Kind of an ugly symbol though, they could at least make it look a little nicer.

WiFi access is usually identified by a white and black square icon on the top right side of the screen. I'm not sure what the icon looks like you are describing but if it is a rectangle, that sounds like a roaming icon.

I'd recommend that you check your owner's manual and/or call your carrier and see what they claim it is.

My guess is you are roaming on T-Mobile's network because your AT&T service is weak in your area but that is just a guess.

That probably has to do with the UMA (wi-fi). The roaming icon is actually a triangle (not solid, just an outline).

That symbol kinda looks like a house more than a triangle, took me a while to see where it was though, I was kinda distracted by Dictorenso's wallpaper...

its a roaming icon for wifi networks. you can get it to go away by deleting and setting up the wifi network again. i havent gotten it since. it sometimes comes back when i set up a new network other than my home network.

Yeah, this is the roaming icon I was talking about. Kinda crappy pic, but I don't have a screen capture program and only a point and shoot with me.
