Question Trackball Maintainence

Hi,
What is the average life expectancy of the trackball on curve? Mine is acting up since a few weeks and I've tried cleaning it with a tissue paper by rubbing the trackball on it, worked fine but i feel that the trackball has a particular restraint in scrolling up and on right side.
Anyone has been through such problem and is there any regular maintenance that users could share?

Cheers
H2

Been cleaning the one on my Tour for 2 years and it is like new. Just take some rubbing alcohol and saturate a small area of a cotton cloth, or a coarse paper towel. You do not want something soft where pieces will come off.

Then hold your phone face down, and rub the alcohol drenched part of the cloth repeatedly over the trackball, pressing and not pressing as you work it in all directions. You are holding the phone face down so that no excess moisture drips inside.

Repeat again and again until it is like new.

Try to put it on a piece of printer paper.
Face down.
Circles. Many circles.

Don't know if Im in the right thread but my sister recently gave me her old BB. And there are places in the house (ie corner of my room infront of the tv) where it's like the trackball has a life of its own. It "fights back" when I scroll, cursor moves up and down really fast its difficult to control. I know it's weird but it works fine if I transfer to another place. Is this normal ? or is there something wrong with my trackball?

Tried last night cleaning the keypad and trackball face down with face wipes (alcohol free). Bit scary to do the trackball part as I was constantly worried about messing up the trackball forever. Worked a bit better now, how's the result of cleaning it with a normal paper (printer paper, rough paper napkin etc.)
Cheers

Mine fights back too, as i have mentioned. Don't know what causes it. Cleaning it has reduced the efforts, now it only fights back when i scroll UP

Hey friends, I'd recommend you to try this out, only if the trackball absolutely does not work and the handset is out of warranty also be very careful so that you don't break anything.
