Tmobile: How to get replacement?
My keyboard is CRAZY loose and i've only had the phone for like 3 months. The trackball also is loose and then gets stuck alot. I know tmobile has the phone under warranty for 1 year for defects. Which means I can't return it for reasons like scratches or i dropped it.
I wanted to know, will tmobile send a replacement? what do I have to do to get a replacement? - 06-10-2009, 10:54 AM #2

Does T-Mobile do replacements at the stores? I had verizon for the last 3 years and whenever I had a phone issue while in warranty, I could always go to the Verizon store and get it replaced no problem. Now that I have this 8900, I want to know the protocol. Thanks

one last quick question, if tmobile does send me a replacement, will it be brand new in a box? or refurbished?
I don't want a refurbished phone. I also read on tmobile's site that if after you receive the replacement, and you send them the old one, they can deem it the user's fault and charge me the full price of the phone. Any truth to this? - 06-10-2009, 03:15 PM #12
Could be either 75%+ going to be refirb. If they find that the defect is the fault of the user and the user doesnt have insurance plan they can charge you. but you need to clear your case before you send it in. just to cover your hiney.

Honestly if BB's keyboard is little loose.. it is very nature!.. nothing MAINLY serious case.. My 8900's keyboard is little loose, like my previous 8320 keyboard was little loose & not issues since launch day I bought. I really not need to have replacement it.

The only reason to get a replacement phone is if it doesn't turn on. I don't understand the issue with the loose keyboard. Does it affect your typing? I find it soothing. I wish the loose keyboard posts would STOP!

All 8900s are still under manafacture warranty. If you have an issue with your phone they will replace the phone. Will it be a refurbn the answer is yes. Just guess how many people call for the slightest things. They must do something with those units.

I can personally vouch for T-mo's cust service on replacing any BB's. I have been with them (as a customer not a rep) for over 4 years and have replaced 8 phones without any charges while doing this except for having to pay the shipping charges for the replacement (this can be added to your bill) T-mo claims you are subject to charges for any broken plastic, cracked screens, etc, but I have never been billed for any of these issues when I probably should have been. Just give cust svc a call and ask for a BB rep and you will have less wait time and be prepped with your IMEI number if you are calling from the device you are getting replaced. Good luck

Every BB I have had...
has had a bit of "play" in the keyboard. I suspect because it is a seperate piece it can't be fitted so tight that it can't be removed without damaging either the keyboard itself or surrounding parts. So their is just naturally going to be some amount of movement. My 8820 had the most "play" but it never effected the devise, nor its performance.
As far as the trackball goes... if it gets stuck or slows down, often that is a case of oil from one's fingers getting on it and causing some issues. Simply take a cloth with a very small amount of rubbing alcohol on it (and I do mean very little.. just dampened) and rub the cloth around the trackball. That should remove any oil and get the ball working properly again. You can also use LCD screen cleaner as it has a small amount of alcohol as well.
I would not send back a perfectly good 8900 due to a small amount of play in the keyboard. Without the T-Mo insurance program all you are going to get back is someone elses problem devise.
This is why I have the insurance program... you can take the devise back to your T-Mo store and they will replace the devise on the spot. Of course you have to show them what the problem is, but the insurance program reads "for any reason".. which makes things a lot easier. - 06-11-2009, 09:51 AM #21
You will get a refurb, and have to pay shipping, which kind of pisses me off since I used AT&T's warranty service weekly ( buy and sell ) and they NEVER charged me for shipping, most of the time even shipping overnight.

and they replaced it with no problem...So Just call and let them know..I'm sure they'll replace it.
