What and why are you trying to Synchronize???
Most users use DM to Backup their device, or add/remove applications.

What version of DM are you using... also, what PC OS and Outlook version are you using???

If the above does not work... then uninstall DM 5.0... download and install DM 4.6 from the link in my signature below... DM 4.6 is much better.

Look at Help on the phone, not DM. Sounds your phone is set to synch via BT, not cable, and maybe it can't be set to synch with both. I gather it's a phone setting, not a pc/DM settingSamsung Galaxy Nexus, iPad2 and iMac. Former BB 8100 and 8900 owner.

You can sync wirelessly via gmail for your outlook calendar and appointments and it will update continuously.
I found the answer:
Synchronize organizer data over the wireless network
1. In the address book, a calendar, the task list, or the memo list , press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. To synchronize calendar entries, click a calendar.
4. Change the Wireless Synchronization field to Yes.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.
To stop synchronizing organizer data over the wireless network, change the Wireless Synchronization field to No.
