Yeah that's just defected, think you'll find that's a pretty rare occurence. All of the users on here will testify to that! Take it back, get a new one, and then after you've fallen in love with it (which shouldn't take long) come back and say how glad you are you didn't give up on it!!

Honestly, best decision you'll ever make.

It was most likely defective, or it is something you installed on the phone. Definitely give it another try. I haven't had those issues on any of the 3 8900s i have had. The current one I have is perfect .

Yea its probably just defective, this doesnt happen often with a Blackberry but now and then you can get one. I would go back to the store you purchased it at and swap it out for a brand new one without hesitation. Even if the phone ended up working fine again who knows what problems may arise down the road. I would go get a new one this way you have nothing to worry about.

I say you give blackberry another shot. All electronics can have their defects...in your situation, I would exchange for a new one.

If your patient, the blackberry will be a worth while device

I would give it another shot. Shoot, I wish I had a 8900 period, even if it was messing up haha. Nothing a new firmware can't fix!

Yeah man. You have a great phone with the best community in the world. Go ahead and return it and get a replacement. The BB community is as close to heaven as you are going to get without dying first!

mine was great for a month. started getting major static and speaker issues. Tmo sent me a replacement. Got it friday. Two days later, screen freezing, lcd dims and brightens for no apparent reason, apps locking up. Getting another from tmo this week. not a happy camper right now.

Good ole technology!!! I'm on my second 8330 curve. First one right out of the box had issues. Thing would randomly restart! Didn't even have to be using it and I'd look over and it would be restarting itself! (Which I think you all can attest to is very annoying when it takes 3 minutes to reboot). Thankfully the rep at the bell store was awesome and swapped it straight up. This one works great! Loving my first (technically second) smartphone

Very odd to hear these issues. Brook, did you add any apps or themes?

No - no apps, themes, upgrades - nothing. I had an 8320 before this and never had one single issue. I had no issues with my first 8900 for about a month. I was so excited about this phone, now I am thinking I should have just stayed with the 8320 - I know its slower and a little heavier, but at least it worked.

Sounds like a defective model to me. The 8900 really is a solid phone. Personally, I would give it another shot.
