my situation is different than the other threads on the same topic, i think, because THIS PHONE IS BRAND NEW. i had an 8900 that has a couple keys that act funny, but nothing big. i should have just stuck with it. i wanted to trade "up" to a 9300. i didn't like it at all, so i traded back UP to and 8900. it crashed when i tried to "switch devices" with the desktop manager. i'm not a big bb geek, so i didn't know that was a bad idea til just now, after i have had 3 separate bb's crash on me TODAY. now it is 552 and jl_cmder won't work and dm won't even recognize it now. i am currently at a loss. i really don't want to trade this one in and start all over crashing another one. HALP!

i think it bears mentioning that this is the first time i have gone from a working bb to a new one. all the other ones have had deaths by dishwater and one jack wore out and couldn't connect to anything. so every other time i've done this i've just started from scratch without using the dm. i go back through appstore and re-dl everything i had. . . if i can get the os back in this one, i'll do that!!!!! but the laptop won't even recognize it. when i plug and unplug it or turn it off/on, the laptop makes that "you have connected something" sound, but it has no idea WHAT.

Try to reinstall the Blackberry Desktop software completely (remove it first).
