Putting password on Text messages (SMS)
Am a new blackberry user, and wanted to know if you can put a password, or lock on your text messages, so others cannot access this area without a passcode of some sort, if yes, how is this activated?
Many Thanks, - 08-11-2009, 08:30 AM #2

Its amazing. - 08-11-2009, 11:11 AM #3
Smartguard is expensive.... (at least for someone who refuses to pay over $10 for an app).
Just lock your phone with a password.Follow me www.twitter.com/cashv

i hide the msg folder from the main menu.&. use the M button as a short cut. not alot of ppl who ask to hold/use my bb know anything about it, so the last thing they'd do is press the letter M out of curiosity
-just a suggestion - 08-12-2009, 05:48 AM #8

sure, for starters make sure u have "dial from home screen" option checked as NO.
to do that get into ur call log section
press the menu button (bb button)
hit options, select general options
scroll down to DIAL FROM HOME SCREEN and change it to no.
to hide ur sms folder, hit the menu button from the home screen
toggle over to the sms folder, hit the menu button, select "hide" and should dissapear and then ur done.
--also just so you knw, u cant assign keys to apps. that is pre programmed on ur bbLast edited by .cw54o; 08-12-2009 at 06:05 AM.

It sounds like you are really paranoid about someone picking up the phone and going through your stuff. If that's the case, password the whole thing. Just because you hide stuff doesn't mean people can't find it very easily.

If Eve had given Adam a Blackberry, the world would be paradise. Instead, she gave him an Apple. Look at us now. - 11-30-2012, 06:11 PM #19
there's always "crunchsms" a free app that lets you passcode lock.
