Problems accessing wifi network w/ web-based authentication
Hello, hopefully someone can help me. I have a guest network at work that is open but has web-based authentication (where you connect to wifi network but the network is not fully open until you login on an intro website). I have been able to access this network in the past but the problem is that sometimes the phone decides to not go to that login screen (uses or tries to access the EDGE network instead) and thus does not access the login screen. It will say it is connected but will not light up the wifi logo without me getting past that login screen successfully.
I've tried (without reproduceable success):
- bookmarking the login screen (does not always use the wifi network)
- using Opera with "wifi" checked
- hard reset (battery removal) of phone
- deleting and re-adding the wifi network (says connected but wifi logo not lit)
- clearing cache and cookies
- turning off the mobile network
my wife has the flip and also has the same problems at her school and she does not have the data package. Sometimes she can get to the login screen, sometimes it just errors out (no connection).
Any thoughts? (I run advanced wifi diagnostics and all wifi looks good, UMA gets error code w004, connection error, and status: "isp error. dns server cannot be reached" which makes sense because it's not getting beyond the local browser-based firewall.)
Once I get to the login screen and login everything works perfectly including UMA.
