Picture of on screen of a battery with an " X" through it.
As the post says.... My son was playing with my 8900 a few months ago(maybe 6 months),and misplaced it. I just found it. It would not turn on, so I plugged it in to charge, 20 min later I went to check status, and I see a dark screen, with a big battery symbol in the middle with an "X" over it. Oh, there was no battery in the phone, so I put in the battery in it before charging. Does the symbol mean it is not recognizing the battery, completely dead? Thanks for your replys in advance. Gary

The times I've seen that symbol was when either there was no battery, it was severely drained or the battery was bad. I would let it sit for a few hours and see if it changes. Maybe take it out and reinsert it to make sure its getting good contacts. If its still showing the Red X after a day, you're probably going to need a battery.one of these days see me drivin' round town in my rock 'n' rolls Royce with the sun roof down
