Phone hangs on startup
Hi,
New AT&T 8900 won't startup. Just hangs at white screen with little black clock spinning.
Weird.
Only a few 3rd party apps on the device, mostly Google Mobile Apps. No themes or anything.
Pulled battery many times.
Any other way to force a reset?
Thanks. - 11-08-2009, 09:21 AM #2
About the only way I know to get this to work again is to reload your OS... check out the BlackBerry 101: How to Reload the Operating System on a Nuked BlackBerry

I've let it start for a long time - 20 minutes or so. Plugged in and not plugged in. No luck.
Thanks for the suggestions, if I can't even get it to start, how do I reload the OS? (I will go read the article now )

well, this is weird.
went thru the procedure and got the phone back to factory fresh.
first app i tried to install was BB Messenger 5.0. Told the phone to reboot, it never came back! Dead again.
Reloading again now, I will be leaving off BBM 5.0 for sure. :s - 11-09-2009, 09:43 AM #9
You might need to get a new device... it should work with BBM 5.0.

Really? BBM 4.6 works. Maybe some issue with the AT&T version of OS 4.6? BBM 5.0 works fine on my old 8110 (this 8900 is actually my wife's.)
I will keep a close watch for any other odd behavior.
Thanks. - 11-12-2009, 11:05 AM

To close the loop, we replaced the unit.
So far so good but I haven't put BBM 5.0 back on it yet....
