OS v5 FOR 8900 WONT WORK
So I downloaded the OS v5 for my BB but every time I go through the process of trying to "update" it through my computer to my phone, it doesn't do anything. I deleted the vendor but even so, nothing. I checked the 5.0* and it would start processing than it would say "nothing to update." but when I go through it again, it always says 4.6 (current).
I'm getting highly frustrated right now, can anyone please help me?
I've even taken out my battery pack and added it back in.
Does anyone know why? My friend did his but it's not working for mine.
Please help. - 04-10-2010, 03:43 PM #2
could be the solution :D
Hello
try the following . . it worked with me
OS v5.0.0.509
1. uninstall the OS from your PC
2. Reinstall it
3. Delete the Vendor.xml file if it's not your Carrier's Release -> (C:, program files, Common files, Research in motion, app loader, Delete the Vendor.xml file
4.Preferably using the new DM ( Desktop Manager ) Backup your BB.. link -> BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com
5.Connect your BB and Backup its memory ( from now on disconnect your PC from the Internet )
6.Close the DM
7.Download and install in your PC an application called CrackMem
8.Run CrackMem and then chose the OS you've installed earlier
9. Click on Wipe Device . . it will ask you to write BrickMyPhone -> write it
10. Follow the installation instructions afterwards and you'll be Fine . . that's what I did
11. After that you might need to update your BBM and you might need to delete your wi-fi and set it up again

Are you deleting any previous OSes that you have on your PC? You need to delete any 4.6 version before trying to install 5.0.

Sorry I'm just, frustrated.
Okay on top, there is a link with a folder next to it that says,
BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com > BlackBerry Device Help and Discussion Forums > BlackBerry Curve 8900
Click on BlackBerry Curve 8900 Link, it will lead you back to all the threads page.
Once you've done that, there will be a link that says, "New Thread"
Click on it and just put in your question, type what you need and send.
People will respond with in the next 24 hrs or so. - 04-11-2010, 04:01 PM #24
I've found I cannot go from 4.6.1.xxx to any version of OS 5 above .509. I had to upgrade to .509, then I could goto .592. As to where to go to get .509, I don't know.

Saarraahh,
Back to helping you. This says its for the Storm, but it will work for any BlackBerrry if you want to install an OS that is not from your carrier. http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/ho...pdates-420811/--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)
