you've mensioned that she has a Bold 8900

if you meant a curve 8900
here is the link to the Latest Operating System ( OS ) by Wind Hellas V5.0.0.592
Link >> Latest Official OS Released by Wind Hellas V5.0.0.592 for Curve 8900
After downloading the .exe file . . install it on your PC
Now follow this Guide
1. Delete the Vendor.xml file if it's not your Carrier's Release , go to -> (C:, program files, Common files, Research in motion, app loader, Delete the Vendor.xml file)
2.Preferably using the new DM ( Desktop Manager ) Backup your BB.. link -> BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com
3.Connect your BB and Backup its memory ( from now on disconnect your PC from the Internet and disable data on phone)
4.Close the DM
5.Download and install in your PC an application called CrackMem
6.Run CrackMem and then choose the OS you've installed earlier
7. Click on Wipe Device . . it will ask you to write BrickMyPhone -> write it
8. Follow the installation instructions afterwards and you'll be Fine
9. After that you might need to update your BBM and you might need to delete your wi-fi and set it up again
WARNING: Do this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any problems that may occur as a result of following this guide. Your 3rd party applications might be removed after the OS installation.
>> Some would prefer the use of the Loader.exe for the installation part ( which is located in the same file as the Vendor.xtml ) But I know some who had problems afterwards. So DO Use the CrackMem application and you'll be fine
Take Care and Enjoy your new OS

If you're feeling "bold"... then perhaps look at a Willyboy Hybrid for her 8900... very stable, quick browser, good memory management and battery life... Willyboy's latest for the 8900 is v4.2. See here:

For me personally if your going to do an upgrade then grab the OS5.0.0.610 leaked release, and then use the WillyBoy Hybrid mentioned above.
Dont panic the leaked OS is fine, and works great. You can grab it from here.
Just follow the instructions same as above for installing this OS as well.
4.6 firmware is so damn slow so she will be really happy with this upgrade.Last edited by Geordie Boyo; 05-05-2010 at 08:29 AM.

Hey can u tell me more bout the Willyboy Hybrid, its the 1st I hearing bout it. Wat does it do and is there any for the bold - 05-06-2010, 06:44 AM #7
Hybrids represent a "best of" from various OS releases. They usually include a number of files from different OS's from different phones. Willyboy does a great job of finding a good mix that takes the best of each OS and then rolls it into one build. You end up with a stable OS that has a fast browser, great call quality, quick interface, good memory management with minimal leakage and very good battery life.
