| | No Tour for Tmo...I am ok with this.
The Tour sure does look pretty. It has a nice keyboard and screen. Any new BB is worth salivating over.
No WiFi seems like a waste. I am not experienced with 3g speeds, so that probably helps the bias.
Anyway, I am happy with my Curve 8900.
Anyone feel the same way?
BTW I am probably going to buy a dummy tour for my three year old to play with and so I can say I have the new TOUR

I have experience with 3G and there's really not a big difference IMO.. wi-fi is better to me. I love the 8900, I think its the best bb on the market.

I was playing with my dads storm today and downloaded speed test to see how "fast" Verizon EVDO or 3G is. It maxed out at 212KBPS. My 8900 maxed out around 180KBPS.... With these kinds of speeds, no one will notice the difference. I'm sure 212KBPS is pretty sucky for 3G speeds but if thats all Verizon users in my area are getting than I don't see the point of 3G. In the end, how fast pages load is what is important, not the data speed in terms of KBPS. My 8900 with Opera Mini runs circles around VZ 3G users. For tethering, 3G is important but for mobile, on device, browsing, I fail to see whats so great about it.

Unfortunately, most tech geeks can't see past the lack of 3G and see how great the other features are. T-Mobile doesn't have much of a 3G network so it doesn't make sense for them to release a 3G BB yet.

I think the Tour is okay, but also am not so impressed with it. It is nice, but I much prefer the look/feel of the 8900.
Now when the Driftwood is available for t-mo in a couple of months then that's a whole other thing. I love how it looks and getting 3G + the WiFi will be very cool so there's always a connection to the web. I will upgrade from my 8900 to the Driftwood...and the other networks can keep their Tour

As others have said, I find WiFi much more important than 3G. The 8900 is my 2nd phone with WiFi, and I don't think I could get along without. If you want to see some irate people with useless smartphones, travel through the UP of Michigan, and talk to some of the iPhone owners. At least they don't complain about dropped calls, since they can't make any. But, every campground we stayed at, except for one state park, had free WiFi and I had as good coverage as I have at home.

I totally agree. I want a Bold, but am not willing to pay full price for one.

Anyway, I am happy with my Curve 8900. | I may be wrong but I believe the Driftwood is the GSM 3G equivalent of the tour which T-Mobile will be getting in the fall.
And you are totally right that the 8900 is perfect. All this 3G talk is kind of overblown anyway. Virtually anywhere I go where I need access to data, I have WiFi UMA capability and WiFi UMA capability blows 3G away so what is so essential about 3g? ... Particularly in light of the fact that the 8900is basically 2.5G anyway.

I get no bars where ATT users have five and 3G lol. Before T-Mobile upgraded my area to EDGE, I still had GPRS while ATT users were getting 3G. I guess I'm in a great ATT area then haha.

Is the driftwood the same thing as the Onyx?
It looked pretty cool from pics I saw. I just upgraded in 4/09 so I will have to wait til 2011 for my next berry. I am a poor teacher and retail does not compute for me.
Still...I love my 8900. It is my first ever smart phone and I am definetly an addict. Just ask the Mrs.
I have been hopping over to Tour forums just to see how it is going. Looks like like of Wifi is a hot topic. I'll say it again. It looks pretty and it seems like a bigger 8900 with 3G and no wifi.

I cannot see why anyone on TMO would be even remotely interested in the Tour.
The tour is, after all, really only the CDMA version of the 8900.. and even then you have WiFi, also UMA... both things that folks are jonesing for at Sprint and VZW.
Be happy!
