For the Curve 8900, operating system app version 4.6.1.250, has been officially released by the carrier TIM Italy (english included).

For install instruction to load any carrier 8900 OS on your BB:
1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It may take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade. - 06-10-2009, 01:11 PM #4

No you don't have to wipe your device, just follow the directions. If you want some more reading go to the Blackberry 101 lessons, they have a lesson... It's under the Blackberry Help link at the top of every forum page, and in my signature on the 1st post.

Thanks, but when I plug in my phone, it doesn't prompt me for updated. can I run it through Loader.exe in the AppLoader folder?
If I can, can I get the steps for that too so I don't mess up my phone

ok, I just updated using Loader.exe, and it only took like 5 minutes O_O. did something bad happen?
