    Default New or REFURBISHED

I think I have discovered how to check if you have a new or refurbished 8900!

Just to show that I had comparisons, I posted a picture.

What I noticed is that on the NEW 8900's:
On the left it has: PCB-17183-001_B
    0909
On the right it has: MFC DC:0909
    PCB-18474-001_B

What I noticed on both the REFURBISHED 8900's:
On the bottom left it has: PCB-17183-001_B
    1109
On the bottom right it has: MFC DC:1109
    PCB-18474-001_B

You can notice that everything is identical to each other, EXCEPT the "MFC DC" numbers. The same thing goes for the left side.

To make sure if I am right, I would like for all crackberry members with new and refurbished phones to post if this is true or not. Meaning that all new and refurbished phones have the same numbers.

Also, this was only tested on T-Mobile 8900's phones

PS: If nobody cares just pm me and I will advise a ADMIN to remove the thread, so no flaming.

I am not sure how to interpret other numbers like
On the left it has: PCB-17183-001_B
    3907
On the right it has: MFC DC:3807
    PCB-18474-001_B

What does that mean? New or refurbished?

Is your phone new, or have you gotten a replacement from T-Mobile?

When I say new, it does not mean technically that is brand new but that it is the original one that you bought which came in a box.

This would have been better if I had another new 8900. It can be that all original 8900 have different numbers but all other refurbs have the 1109 numeration. Since I had 3 refurbs and all 3 had 1109.

I don't think it's the manufacture date. My 8900 I got new in Feb. says 5208.

It could be that all new 8900 have a different number and all refurbished have the 1109 number. Would only know until someone posts a refurbished phones number. If that is proven wrong, might as-well delete the thread.

It was bought brand new from a T-Mobile corporate store.

However, it was technically an in-store exchange. I am positive it is brand new, though, unless T-mobile was selling refurbished 8900's as brand new in sealed new boxes in the middle of February. My manufacture date confirms this is a brand new phone as well.

Yeah, if it's an in-store exchange it will be and should be a new one.

    D/C 0609

    New from T-Mobile.

I don't see how going by D/C's is going to determine if a phone has been refurbished. Unless you think they refurbished all of them in 1109.

My phone with the numbers 3907 and 3807 is brand new from T-Mobile. The phones will be refurbished for various reasons. Therefore, the company may not need to take those parts out of the phone and put new numbers after the refurbish anyway.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm pretty sure the MFC DC:XXX is just a manufacturing week and year.

My original 8900 I got when it was first released is MFC DC:4008 (Week 40, 2008). I received a replacement this week, MFC DC2409 (Week 24, 2009).
