Default lock unlock

no, this isnt a question asking where the lock button is.

first ill say that i have had a bold 9700 for the past year. loved it. and last week the lcd died. needed a replacement so found a curve 8900 on craigslist. bought it. updated to os 5. didnt notice the unlock/lock button was broken when i met the guy. just used the short cut to unlock. now with the new os i cant do the shortcut unlock. or unlock the phone at all. i lock it by holding A. only way to access my phone after a lock is pulling the battery. so what do you think i should do. will blackberry fix this. or is there a way to lock and unlock my phone without using the button. thanks
