Great information, let it roll a few days and post back your findings.

If the results stay positive, I will take the time to wipe and reload mine!
I wouldn't hesitate. Now that the device has settled in; battery life is phenomenally better and memory leaks are much improved.

I also had trouble loading it through Desktop Manager. Delete the vendor file and load it through Apploader. You should be fine then.

just joining today... have the same problem...

after delete the vendor.xml, I use the apploader...

last night i tried to upgrade from 1036 to 1067... the same message pop up, that my application is newer that i have to choose downgrade or keep it...

try twice with different option, 1st keep the newer version of my apps, 2nd downgrade it.. the result yet the same "succeed upgrade"

but when i check in option still v5.0.0.1036 (Bundle 1682, Platform 5.2.0.104)

I am using jave AT&T but using local provider, coz' i live outside US.

do we really have to wipe out 1st, cause last time my friend upgrading my jave, he just straight upgrade it without wipe the old os 1st

As long as it's the same phone model, it WILL work.
The only thing you need to do is delete the vendor.xml file and then run the Blackberry Desktop Software (a.k.a. Desktop Manager) or just the loader.

People with different phone OS may get different challenges, but for me it's always been smooth.

    Default Memory drain...

I installed yesterday night and was very happy this morning because available memory after reset was above 100MB...
I hadn't seen so much since... never?

Maybe it helped that I removed a lot of the modules I didn't think I'd be using... like manually shrink-a-OS. I also removed several apps that I had installed previously.

    Now the funny part:
I've been monitoring the memory usage since the last reset, which was about noon and got me about 105MB free.
Approximately 6 hours later, the free memory got down to 83MB.
It's stabilized right now, but I lost 22.6MB in half a day.

    Is this NORMAL???
Is this what you'd call a memory leak? It's just that I hadn't noticed something like this before...

    What causes memory to drop?
Can it be the number of messages and contacts? While the computer was restoring the data to the phone I noticed 1500 contacts and over 4600 messages being put into the phone...
I also opened and closed almost all of the applications, because I had to re-register quite a few and update a couple more.

    -----------
Update 10 days later... I'm still going down to 87% in a day... anyone else getting this?

Now I almost can't wait the 5 months I've got to go with my carrier until I get a chance to renew my plan and hopefully get me a Bold for cheap. I'd be ecstatic if they have the 9780 already here: 3G, OS6, 5MP camera and 4x the memory of the 8900 looks VERY tempting (at least on paper).

Hi, I'm new to the 8900 and I have one on the Orange network. Would the multilanguage installer work on my Orange device? Thanks!

Hmm, when I downloaded the Vodafone DE version of OS 6.0.0.448 for my 9700, I only needed DM after installing the .exe file. would it be the same for this OS 5 for the 8900 or would I need third party software? Sorry for being n0ob-ish, I'm just about a novice in uploading operating systems.

I fully wiped with JL CMDER and loaded this build last week.

Memory leak is smaller than it was with my previous build (.900 from tmo)
I boot up with 116mb free, after two days i am sitting at 103-107mb, as opposed to 98-102. This might be attributed to .900 not being loaded on a JL CMDer wiped device though.

I stream pandora/mp3s for hours, browse news frequently and do lots of emailing as well as docs2go. I also use berry weather, bbm, bloomberg, gmaps and WF banking.

I've had no issues with crashing or needing to reboot. I generally reboot once every couple days in the morning when i get ready just to keep everything fresh.

Battery life is still phenomenal as I'd expect and signal appears to be the same.

    Good build.

had this on a few days now and all seems good,
UMA isnt so good though, on 1036 was rock solid on this is on and off all the time, battery life seems as good as all the other builds and memory leak is around 20mb a day,
otherwise seems muchly the same as 1036, worth upgrading to be current but nothing exciting with this build,

I'll stay on .1036 then, memory leak is WAY less than that.

Fabien, I have bundle 1626 installed. It's great, since it features improved graphics. Other than that, not much change except the mute button no longer puts it in sleep mode - the lock button does that now - I have BB 8900. Hope this helps!
