Default Keypad not responding - not indicating water damage

Hello,

Today I dropped my BB on the floor whilst walking to work, I put it in my pocket and did not check it for about 20 mins after until i realised it was just a black screen with a red flashing light. I pulled the battery about 10 times. I know NOW that was a stupid move . Basically I googled it and it seems that it may have moisture damage but when I check the phone there is no red sticker to indicate water damage, will the rice trick still work? It's bathing in a container of rice right now but I'm worried that might have been a stupid move too!

Please help!

Thanks,
-E
