Its official, ive jumped ship
All along i was dreaming of the blackberry bold, with 3g it seemed like the way to go. But the more i think about it, i seriously doubt 3g is coming near me anytime in the future. And who knows how stable it will all be. Not to mention the fact that the bold is far far away for us tmo customers.
I have decided that i will be purchasing the Jav as soon as it is released. With Wifi, GPS and a nice camera i think i will be more than satisfied with it. Has anyone else changed their minds about the bold and decided to come over to the Javelin? Just curiousTips to increase battery life

That's not jumping ship, you're just going to a different deck.

I am switching as well. I am on sprint so I don't know when and what we will get, but...
The bold just seems to big. Like the 88xx. I have the curve now and feel it could last a while. I will skip the bold and thunder and wait for a javelin/ curve type device.

Ok Chaz, perhaps you have a point. But for the sake of arguement im talking about the SS bold and ...Javelin voyager.
And Cody, i wouldnt really say youre skipping the bold because im sure the Jav will release before it. So i dont really think youre going to have to wait too long for the Jav considering the bold is just hopes and dreams at this point.Tips to increase battery life

I believe its a good choice shory. The only thing you are giving up is the net speed. But keep in mind the Javelin is faster than the Curve you have now. Also, the Javelin is running a little higher OS than the Bold. Physically, the Jav looks WAY better than the Bold. Also with 3G probably going to be a while before reaching your area, I believe this to be a wise decision. One you won't regret, I might add.

I know, im looking forward to it now. The only thing that irks me a bit with the Jav is the lack of a standby button, but who knows im sure there is some sort of standby integrated into the phone. Im also hoping my Seidio desktop charger still works with this model, i believe it will considering the battery contacts are located in the same spot but we shall see. And i cant imagine the Javelin being more expensive than the Bold. Even if its the same price im still buying it, i got a feeling i would be waiting much longer for the bold to release through tmo.
Now lets get some release info!!Tips to increase battery life

Does VZW have any chance of seeing the Jav in the near future? I know Thunder/Storm is coming soon, but I'm not sure about the touchscreen - I like pushing actual buttons
.
Anyway, if VZW did get it I'd grab it in a second! I loove my Curve but the camera kinda sucks, so Jav's camera would be a major draw for me, as would the Curve-like sleekness. Bold looks to be a bit bulky.

I'm with you, Javelin or Bold

I decided on the Javelin way back when I heard of all the new devices coming out. I, too, am on T-mob, and don't expect 3G to get to me anytime soon, but I'm quite used to living life on the EDGE. What does irk me about my Pearl a little bit is the camera. My last phone was a Sony Ericsson W810i, so that 2MP camera w auto focus was basically my digital camera, and a good one.
The Javelin promises to have a really good camera and some great OS improvements, so I am looking forward to it. - 08-12-2008, 03:47 PM

Exactly, now don't get me wrong..if the bold was released through tmo sometime soon I'd get it...regardless of 3g or not. But the more I read about the javelin the more I like. Its a really nice looking piece, and I think the camera is a great touch. Considering how much I love my curves keyboard I think the bolds would take some getting used too. I'm not sure how I feel about the smaller shift keys though...well see

VZW users are getting shafted in my opinion. Great, we'll get the touchscreen, which will be a hit with a lot of users, but I dont want it. i HATE my gf's iPhone b/c it's such a pain to type on. SO we'll wait till earliest late spring before getting the Bold or Javelin. Thanks VZW...

I like the Javelin alot...

I think the Javelin's pretty hot. I like that it'll have wi-fi and a built-in GPS and it looks as though there'll be a lot of functionality in a smaller (but not Pearl small), sleeker package. Wouldn't turn down a free Bold, of course, but I'd definitely choose the Javelin over the Bold if we're talking out of pocket dollars.

A "couple of weeks" is NOT a reasonable amount of time. Lol. I know you're anxious, but seriously, 2 weeks? 3 weeks? The Javelin is coming, all indications point to Oct. I assume the Jav will release a month or a liitle more after the Bold.

Not sure whos post youre talking about JMC, but yeah...ive been under the impression of October all along. Im just saying that i think it will be long after October before i can get my hands on a Tmobile working 3g bold. I just dont see it happening anytime soon. 3g isnt that big of a deal to me, when im at home connected through uma i have no complaints at all regarding my browsing speeds.

Since the Javelin is still in the prototype phase, wont it be really long before it releases? Some people say Q4 but of course everything is hearsay until its actually released! RIM has been advertising the Bold but there's not even a mention of the Javelin apart from the leaks and if they're taking so long to release the Bold, what time-frame would you guys think is realistic for the Javelin? I'm thinking MAYBE 2008 Dec or 2009 Q1.

Tis true adberry. But for us tmobile customers I'd say were gonna have a much longer wait for the bold. And for me specifically, a very long wait for 3g to get near me. Basically at this point I'm buying whatever comes out first. And I seriously doubt the bold will get to tmo before the jav, which is speculated as a tmo exclusive.

I will get whatever comes out first and then when the other one comes out I will get it.
