Default How to update to OS 5 on an unlocked BB 8900?
My current version is 4.6 and i would like to update to OS 5. I dont know if this is possible since my BB is unlocked from tmobile to AT&T and I dont have a data plan. I downloaded the BB Desktop Software and the OS 5 that was on crackberry.com and still no luck! Help?!

Unlocked or locked has no bearing on updating the device OS.

Make sure that you delete the vendor.xml file(s) from your computer after you install the device OS to the computer and then use the Application Loader (Loader.exe) on your computer to install the OS to your device.

You have to use the Loader.exe since you do not have a BlackBerry Data Plan.

Switch Beach is totally correct. The deletion of the vendor.xml file is crucial.

So I did everything as followed...and my BB is still not updated. It went through the whole process and everything and had the little box that popped up that said "your BB has been successfully updated" but its not!

I'm sure that you are getting frustrated, but it's very, very difficult for anyone to provide you with assistance when you are not providing any information other than "it's not working".

Can you list ALL the steps that you are undertaking?
What exact OS version are you downloading to the computer?
What are you doing after you download it?
Did you find ALL the vendor.xml files?
What OS version shows up when you select the update in the App Loader?
