    Default hidden folder

I recently lost all the media files on my phone, that's pictures I took with the camera of this phone, songs I downloaded and videos I made. They were saved on the media card, not the device memory. I eventually found out they weren't missing, so when I need to access those files, I first open my media, then press explore, then press media card then I press 'show hidden', then this folder appears titled 'blackberry' I have to then open that to access those hidden files! Trouble is I don't know how to restore them to the original place. Plus I can't dowbload stuff anymore becaause of it. It always says 'directory full' and I know my memory card isn't full yet! HELP MEEEeee!!

Just a quick thought...... have you tried an app called BBFileScout? It could access hidden folders.

Are they in a different folder than if you just connected your device to your pc/laptop and looked at your SD card that way, or is your main Blackberry folder hidden?

And where exactly is the "blackberry" folder? As I recall on mine the media card starts with "blackberry" and when I open that the other folders (music, video, pix, ringtones) then appear. It sounds to me that your blackberry folder is on the device, not the media card. If so you need to move (not copy) the stuff over to the card into the folders. You can do that manually one by one. I don't know how to do it via a pc though.

This was what I thought I was asking in my thread. Where is the Blackberry folder... when I connect my device using my USB cable it is usually e:\blackberry and then all my folders are below this... I can see everything... but where is yours??? If it is the folder on your SD card and you can see it by using Explorer on you laptop or PC, then just right click the folder and select properties, then uncheck the Hidden attribute.

The 'blackberry' folder is exactly wht I mean!! Its ON the media card but its HIDDEN that's why I have to go through that long process. I just need to know how to unhide it, cos that option isn't in the menu ops.

I'm guessing you are saying my option is not there... What OS are you using on your PC or Laptop??? If it is XP, did you open Windows Explorer in you Accessories folder of your menu after you connected your BB to your PC or Laptop with your USB cable??? Every Windows OS I've ever used has a Properties selection when you right click a folder, or can't you see the Blackberry folder using Windows Explorer either???

OK, try this... open your BB's Media player > Menu > Explore... do your stuff to show the hidden folder.... when you see it, highlight it, click the Menu button and unselect the Hidden checkbox and click close.

Em... Actually, I don't have my usb cable here right now, its back home in another state and I'm away at school, and I don't know anyone whose cable I can borrow. Isn't there a way I could do this just with the phone?

Hi all, I'm spending time here (and in other sites where I see posts of the same concern) posting how I resolved this issue in my BB9300 and hopefully it will help you with whatever BB unit you have:

    Facts:
    1. I inserted my media card in a BB unit which had Encryption activated.

    2. When I inserted the media card back to my BB unit, it no longer showed the folders and the files I had were no longer recognized by my BB media browswer.

    3. In resolving this, I did not have time to re-insert my media card to that BB unit and de-activate the encryption, so I don't know if it would have solved the issue.

    My solution:
    1. I copied all my media card contents to my computer ( I created a folder in my desktop so it was eaasy to find)

    2. After making sure all folders (including the hidden ones) were copied completely, I reformatted my media card (just to make sure it's clean but I could have just deleted all the contents without reformatting).

*I used the BB "Format" option under "Options" > "Memory" > [clicked blackberry button on the unit for Options] > "Format"

    3. After reformat, the media card automatically had fresh Blackberry folders (default), I copied the non-hidden files first from the blackberry contents I copied to my Desktop)

    4. For the hidden files, I opened each of them and found out the inside contents were not hidden (some were but they could be un-hid so no issue); I copied all manually to the "fresh" folders in my unit.

*I also tried copying the hidden folders directly to the media card but they were not un-hid and the Hidden option could still not be ticked (grayed out)

    5. Voila! Everything was showing again.

Hope this helps. And it's been almost 3 years so hope you already got the cable.

Actually I'm just posting this for those that may need it between now and the future.
