Default Help needed to reinstall OS on former work 8900

Hi there

I finished with my employer yesterday and they very kindly let me keep the 8900 curve I have been using for the last couple of year

They helped me unlock it to a new network and have given me a PAC code and the number should port across within the next couple of days which is all good

The only problem is that I was in the public sector and their IT security policy is a bit hysterical and various things like Bluetooth, Instant messenger and over the air updates have been permanently disabled

I am also unable to setup a new e-mail account on it as it is still on enterprise activation for my former corporate account ... just sent myself an e-mail to confirm

I downloaded the windows desktop software and tried upgrading via that route but it seems I already have the latest version and no upgrades are available

So what I really need to do is purge the device and reinstall the latest version of the OS from scratch.

Is that possible?

Do I need to get back in touch with the IT department and get them to do something first?

Grateful for your advice

Thanks

Hello,

You need to download the BB Curve 8900 OS and do a complete fresh installation for your phone... It's easy, but backup before you do this. (make sure you only backup which 3rd party apps and personal settings you wish to keep. i.e. you wont need your work email address or any enterprise policies restored.

Go to this link: (follow instructions) us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

IOts a generic link, so you can select the country of origin and provider etc before you download the software.

Download to your computer and run....

GOOD LUCK.

Thanks

Got it working and activated on my personal e-mail

One new problem...can't install anything from App World

Get an error message that "There was a problem during installation. Please try again"

I also downloaded instant messenger but clicked on the do not agree to T&Cs by accident and now can't access that either!

But glad I got the main handset working

Grateful for your advice re the above 2 issues

Thanks again

You must have a bis plan to access app world.

Delete the instant messenger app and download it again. Everything should be reset.
