Hi,
I just bought a new blackberry 8900. Is there anyone helping me to get MEP unlock code for FREE?
Millions thanks. - 04-25-2009, 10:06 AM #2
Call Rogers and ask them for an unlock code??? Or did you just sign a contract with Rogers... T-Mobile will give an unlock code with in 24 hours if it's not your first contract - free of charge.

If you carrier will not help then you are going to have to pay for the unlock code.

Call your carrier, and say your going out of the country, they will sometimes give you an unlock code. But if you can't get one from your carrier, check Horizon Wireless. Good place, and good people there.
Check Sig for link. - 04-25-2009, 12:48 PM #6
Rogers will not give you an unlock code. It is much more profitable for them to rent you a handset if you are going overseas

Is there any other way to get that magic code instead of buying it?

Nope, it's what we all do. Heck, it's only $25 max. Often it is much cheaper.

Fool with that stuff entirely at your own risk. There are any number of versions of this PSO around and some of them actually work.
It is a piece of RIM software that has been pirated and circulated and had goodness only knows what done to it.
We made a decision here on Crackberry to have nothing whatsoever to do with it.
You have a $500+ phone. Pay the $25 to have it properly unlocked. - 04-25-2009, 07:21 PM #16

I am curious how these codes are generated. Is there a software to decode it or they use some hardware reads provider's network information?

Maybe I should give up looking and buy the code. Which one is the best place?

theres horizon wireless, there's carnag3 services (carnag3 is a user on cb), and EBAY! (which is by far the cheapest).
Users here love Carnag3 though..
Pay and get the phone unlocked already. - 04-28-2009, 09:23 AM

I have a question about unlocking. Once I receive code, should I enter it using rogers SIM card, or any other SIM card?
- 04-28-2009, 11:12 AM #22
use the sim card that you're going to be using it once unlocked.
- 04-28-2009, 11:22 AM #23
You can use any SIM card you like ... the unlock code is entered into the device, not the SIM card.
