Help! 8900 OS Reinstall Problem!
Hey!
I've been skimming through this site since last night to find a solution to my problem, but there seems to be no definitive answer.
I also apologise if this is a tiresome problem you've all dealt with in other threads, but I have literally no idea whats going on.
Basically, I've bought a 8900 curve off of a friend and found it to be too slow and cluttered, also running some old 4.0-something software.
So I found a video here that said to wipe my device with an application called Blackberry Swiss Army Knife, and I did so after backing up my files which it recommended.
I have also installed three individual OS's.
I might also add that before I did all this, I tried updating the phones os with blackberry desktop software which itself I've had trouble updating, which I think I solved although I'm not sure (I had updated it because I had originally tried to update my phones software through the desktop software).
Anyway, various tutorials insist on using apploader, even though in none of the tutorials or apploader itself suggest anything to do with an OS install.
The problem is this error I get when I connect my device and attempt to reinstall the OS with loader/bbsak;

I also get this when trying to connect with blackberry desktop software;

I have seen other tutorials recommend that I delete Common files RIM, which I did (I also restored it because after I deleted it nothing was recognising my device).
I also uninstalled and reinstalled blackberry desktop software.
I literally have no idea whats going on or what I'm doing.
I hope this made coherent sense to somebody, and I hope they help.
I also really hope this phone is totally unusable.
Thank you to anyone that helps! - 04-27-2012, 11:49 AM

Thanks for the reply!
I have deleted both vendor files but nothing is happening.
Now the Blackberry doesn't even register in apploader.
Any ideas? - 04-27-2012, 12:41 PM #5--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

I hope this isn't too bad. - 04-27-2012, 01:14 PM #7
Do you have Desktop Software open while you are running Apploader?
You need to close Desktop Software prior to opening Apploader.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

Nope.
I am running apploader from its folder in Common files and I am running BBSAK.

Tried all three ports with two different cables and I still get the same problem.
What should I do?
Also thank you - 05-04-2012, 05:15 AM #12
Do this.
1) uninstall all the OSs u have installed on ur pc.
2) get cccleaner and run it to remove any traces of the uninstalled os from the registry. (cccleaner is a free program for pc)
3) restart ur pc
4) hop in to the BlackBerry OS Superpage on CB. If u can't find it google "BlackBerry OS Superpage on CB"
5) find the relevant os and install it on ur pc.
6) delete the vendor.xml file from the pc.
7) open BB desktop manager and try updating.
8) if. #7 doesn't happen then open task manager and kill all the running processes of BB desktop manager.
9) open bbsak and wipe ur device.
10) with bbsak, try doing a fresh OS installation on ur phone.
Ps: if ur phone doesn't connect to ur pc then try connecting ur phone with battery removed.
Good luck. And do reply. - 05-28-2012, 07:47 AM #13
Try to delete the DM and everything from your computer, search for the vendor.xml files and delete them all... (clean all the things you don't need there) and then use a guide to install the OS, do it correctly this time and download some stable version...
