First time blackberry owner and first time question here regarding OS 5
I recently received a brand new 8900 Curve and my carrier is T-mobile, I've been reading these forums the past couple nights regarding the new OS 5.
I am considering updating only for the reason that when i record video , about a minute in when i play it back the audio is out of sync by a second or two later on in the video. I did the battery pull and also reformatted by micro sd card which is 8 gb.
My current os is 4.6.1.231.
Ive had a lot of mixed reviews for the 411 os and the official 461, so i'm not sure which one to upgrade to... I'm leaning towards 411 as I see a lot of people downgrading back to it and I heard read from a user the 461 kills the battery more quickly than the 411. And I also read users wanting to downgrade back to the old 4.6.1 which i have now... Some helpful feedback would be nice I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Also if I do upgrade, I plan to do it just by deleting the one file and running the program... as an upgrade..I read about the BBsak as well and the mem program im trying to crunch all this info all at once and if someone could tell me the best way to go about it id also appreciate it thanks - 02-20-2010, 04:57 AM #2
Hi,I changed my os from 4.6.1 to 5.0.0.348 using the method you are thinking of. I thought about using BBSAK but to be honest I was a little worried about wiping everything on my phone. I can say I've had no problems doing it this way. I can't comment on 411 but have read of so many problems with 461 and don't see the point of changing if 348 works ok.
I've never had any issues with video and audio been out of sync using either os and aren't convinced it's a os error. Sorry can't be any help with that. All I can say is I'm sure you'll love the changes with 5 and won't want to go back to 4.6.1 if you upgrade.
