Default Dropped calls on 8900 using Rogers Talkspot & UMA

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

I've got Rogers Talkspot service, Curve 8900 set up to Wifi Preferred, on a Linksys-N router (don't remember which one).

I've noticed that, when waking up after being idle, the phone doesn't always connect calls right away (dialing will produce dead silence, then a tone with error message "Call Failed"). This will persist 2-3 minutes before it's able to dial out. However, "UMA" is displayed on the screen.

Similarly, with same settings as above, the phone will not ring for incoming calls, and I'll only know when I get an SMS saying that I'd missed the incoming call.

Anyone else experiencing these problems? Any suggestions?

if you haven't tweaked your linksys you should. I used to have same symptoms as you. I turned on qos on the router and also put the mac address of my berry into the router's "device priority" settings

THanks, that's a good idea - I'll try that. Now I have to find the manual for my router ...

Mine is under "applications and gaming" then "qos". Qos is simply a tick mark. Device priority you just enter the mac address. You can get the mac address of your berry from the linksys under "status" "local network" click "dhcp clients table" and find your berry. Those were the only two settings I changed and there is also a document here or somewhere that says to change the settings under "advanced wireless settings as follows:

beacon interval - change to 50 from default of 100
    Fragmentation threshold to 2304
    RTS threshold to 2304

I had set the three settings above originally and I was still having problems. The settings on qos and device priority were the ones that resolved my issues.
