Default Deleting previous owners email settings?

I bought a Pre-owned unlocked tmobile branded 8900 off craigslist. im currently running on att's network. everything is great besides the previous owners email is still getting sent to the phone somehow. He checked on his my.tmobile account and it shows that he deleted everything but the emails are still getting sent to the phone. and ive tried to setup my own email on the device but i get and error message that says the pin is linked to another account. anyone have any ideas to fix this?? any help is greatly appreciated.

Your carrier is going to have to help you with this. You can't properly register on the BIS and activate email features until the PIN on your device can be assigned to your account.

At least, that's how it works for BES users where I work. Before I can activate their devices, I need to create user accounts for them that associate their data plans with the PIN on their devices. If someone else has that PIN tied to a different service plan, the old account needs to be deactivated before I can create a new account for the the device's new user. The BIS should work the same way. You just need your carrier to activate your account instead of an IT geek like me.

You need to do a complete wipe on the phone, go to settings and then security settings press the menu key and select wipe handheld. Then you should be good with your "stolen" I mean craigslist 8900. Haha just messing with you

A device wipe isn't going to set the PIN number up with his data plan. His carrier's got to do that.

Nope, device wipe will not help. You need to have your buddy dis-associate the phone's PIN with his BIS account. He he can do that in the BIS manager or you can have him contact T-mobile and have them do it for him. AT&T may also be able to help you out so you can also give them a call.

Yea i'm having the same problem with a phone i bought from someone on ebay. The guy that helped me at sprint did a phone wipe, and it did nothing. He didn't tell me how to get rid of it either so that didn't help
