Default Curve 8900 won't synch with PC

So, whenever I try to synch from the desktop manager I get a message that pops up and says "PIN: Select a device". However, there are no devices populated. When I hit cancel I get an error message that says "failed to connect to device. please make sure device is properly connected and try again". Help!

Facts:

1.) I have been able to synch before

2.) Bluetooth synching won't work either

3.) I can connect my Curve to other devices via bluetooth without any problems

4.) I have try to solve this by uninstalling and re-installing desktop manager to no avail.

First, do a battery pull: leave your device on, pull the battery for 20 seconds, put the battery back in and wait for your device to boot up.

Try it again. If it still does not work, then reboot your PC, and try it in a different USB port.

Also, are you using the original cable, not an aftermarket one? I had this problem...

I tried the battery pull and it did not work - bummer. It is the original cable and will still charge my BB.

On your PC, open Device Manager. Click Universal Serial Bus Controllers, then double click USB Root Hub. Click the box Power Management, and make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not checked.

lak611 - the box that you mentioned was not checked. However, in looking at the Device Manager, I saw an error message by the BlackBerry icon. I deleted the driver, plugged my BB back in, allowed Windows to search for and install the driver again and that worked! Looks like a corrupted driver was the culprit.

Thanks!

CM

Just curious...why do you need to leave the device on when you pull out the battery?
