Default Curve 8900 - Dead to PC

Hi,
Searched around the forum but couldn't find a solution so apologies if this has already been asked. My Curve 8900 when connected to my PC simply gives me no options at all. The device charges fine, but is not showing up as connected in BB desktop software, nor is it available to "drag and drop" files in my computer.

I've tried the phone on a different PC and the problem is the same. I was reading about updating drivers using Windows Device Manager, however nothing as "Blackberry" shows up on any USB port. Other cameras/phones work perfectly, it just seems to be this one.

I've also done numerous battery pulls, reinstalled BB desktop software and various other monotonous but routine jobs.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated,
Thanks!

Go to, options / memory / "auto enable mass storage mode when connected"

This needs to be set to "prompt" or "yes".

I keep mine on "prompt", my guess is that yours is set to "no".

Also above that option, you need mass storage support and media card support both "on", if either of those is "off" that would cause the same issue.

Good luck, hope that solves your issue.

Thanks for the response. I really should have added to my OP that I've checked this already. Both are set to on and mass storage when connected is set to "yes." Apologies for not stating that originally.

I've just tried a new cable (not blackberry official this time) but still no joy.

Ok i'll try that. If I email myself the .con file which is created when I back up my BBM contact list, will that still work once I've wiped the phone and then try to restore my contacts? Naturally i'd normally do this on the computer, but obviously I can't.
