Cursor constantly moving up

Hi Folks

I have a friend with a Curve 8900 with OS5 who is having a problem at the moment...being made worse by the fact that she's on holiday!

The cursor on her Curve is constantly moving up, to the point where she had to press "b" twice while typing a short message to me asking for help!

The trackball was replaced at the start of July as the old one had stopped scrolling completely. Could it be that this one is defective already? Or is there likely to be an easier fix she can carry out while she is away from home?
