Default BB Curve can't find wifi signals

    Hi
I am having a issue with my BB CUrve 8900 for finding WIFI signals. I have free Wifi signals at home and at work and I try scanning the BB and it never finds any signals. The wifi on the home screen is not white but grey. Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Please help.

Wifi on the 8900 has always been doofy. If you have a new router, do you have it set exclusively to 802.11n? If so, the 8900 cannot see that spectrum.

Standard troubleshooting steps apply here. Try another wifi capable phone, then try your 8900 at another open access point. If the problem follows the phone, it's the phone. If it only happens at home, it's the access point.

Try your 8900 with another Wi-fi and with a friend's wifi, if it doesnt work so its a phone problem.

    Thanks for replying.
It's the phone, I have tried finding signals here at work and it doesn't even pick up our free wifi and at home it doesn't pick up any signals. I am wondering if it's my settings? I also keep hearing about you have to pull out the battery and wait 30 seconds and put the battery back in and it may work. My problem on the phone is that when I goto Manage connections the Wifi is on but with a white dash next to it. How do it get a green check mark? I am wondering what I am missing on my settings.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?

no but I should be able to connect to free wifi shouldn't I?
I haven't free from work and free at home as well.
Even when it scans for signals nothing comes up.
One other thing, I am using a sim card from my iphone 3g would that change things? it should still work shouldn't it?

    Nope.

WiFi requires the proper Service Books. Service Books are sent from the carrier. Many carriers do not send the WiFi Service Books unless you have a BlackBerry Data Plan.

Does the plan include internet access? Or is it just for email and BBM?

If it doesn't include internet access, then you likely do not have the WiFi Service Books for that.

You might want to contact your carrier.
