is it bad to deep cycle the BB batteries?
is it harmful to the device or the battery?

Not at all! The battery in your BB is considered a smart battery and you can practically do anything you want (as far as charging times) with them. Just stay above a 10% threshhold so not to dehydrate the cells.

No it will not hurt the phone.... but could hurt the battery you shouldn't completely discharge the lithium ion batteries. They will die!!
