Following the slightly morphed theme of this posting, I just picked up a 9700 replacing my 8320. The Curve was configured with wap.voicestream.com. The 9700 comes with epc.tmobile.com for the APN. I have been using Mapquest Navigator for a while on my 8320 with no problems. On the 9700 it won't connect, saying I have a network problem. So after goofing around with everything else, I change the APN from epc... to wap... Voilla! Mapquest starts up just fine. So, with all that, can someone now better explain the difference (if they really know) between epc.tmobile.com and wap.voicestram.com? I mean, if what other posters were saying is that there's no difference, then why would Mapquest behave differently between the two APN settings? I've also noticed that Slacker works better with epc.tmobile.com. The data flow seems to be better. With wap it appears that there isn't enough bandwidth to keep up with the data.
Just my observations...

Reason: Added note regarding Slacker/apparent bandwidth
